Welcome!

Welcome to Living in Harmony! I am so excited to share about my love for animals and what a day in the life of a "tiny farm" owner looks like. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been a huge animal lover. I live in a suburban town in Massachusetts and although I don't live on a full-fledged farm by any means, I have just under an acre of land which is home to me, my parents, and many other beating hearts. I wanted to create this blog to share about the many animals I care for and to express the true joy and happiness it brings me to be around nature and to raise and spend time with my many furry and feathered friends!

For most of my life I dreamt of one day becoming a veterinarian so I could help as many animals as I could. As I got older, my passion for animals remained the same but I decided I not only wanted to help animals, I also wanted to help people. On top of that, I also have a huge passion for music. I have sang and played piano most of my life so my goals and dream career shifted a bit. I thought about what kinds of career opportunities would allow me the time and space to focus on helping people, spending time with animals, and also incorporating music in a meaningful way.

Then one day my dad said to me something along the lines of, "Why don't you become a teacher? Think of all the people you would be able to help and you can teach all about animal species, maybe bring some into the classroom, and even find ways to incorporate your love for music every day!" That is when it all clicked for me and that is when my classroom theme was born... The Barnyard! Now I am the crazy kindergarten teacher down the hall singing Old MacDonald Had A Farm with my five-year-olds as we patiently wait for our incubated duck eggs to hatch before our eyes on the document camera. Pretty amazing right?!

In this blog I hope to not only share how my many animals live in harmony at our self-proclaimed tiny farm but also share the excitement and engagement my animals bring to my students, my friends, and my family day in and day out.
